![]() In the settings, there is an option to sync an offline backup ALMOST like before, so I was going to do this, but you can't pick folders, it's all or nothing now and my laptop won't fit that videos folder. I tried this new one cause the old option is gone now, and they want you to stream all your files which no longer works for me, because I can't change my local libraries to the Google Drive folders if there is no local folder because it insists on streaming files. Now everything was working perfectly, and I just did a clean install of Windows on my laptop, I was going to set everything back up just like before, and Google has removed Backup and Sync from their website and replaced it with Google Drive for desktop. My laptop only has a local backup of Pictures, Music, Documents, and Downloads. On my desktop, I have Pictures, Music, Documents, Downloads, and Videos, so my entire desktop has the local back up on the computer, a local offline backup of just the Videos folder on an external, and a cloud backup of everything on Google Drive. Backup and Sync lets you pick which specific folders from Google Drive you want to sync. So on my laptop, I was only syncing the other folders, and not the videos folder. Now the issue, is that because I do video editing, my Videos folder is almost 8TB, and my laptop doesn't have 8TB of storage. ![]() SUPER super simple, it works like magic, I love it. Once I'm done with the installer, I can delete it, it deletes from my laptop, syncs to Google Drive, syncs to my desktop saying it's been deleted, and deletes it from my desktop. So when a new file is created on my desktop, it syncs to drive, automatically syncs to my laptop, and when I go on my laptop, the installer is just there in my laptop's download folder like magic. Then in the background, Google Drive syncs that installer to the same Downloads folder on Google Drive. This way, when I download an installer or something, let's say a new update for Davinci Resolve or whatever, it downloads on my desktop, goes to the default download folder which is now Google Drive. ![]() ![]() ![]() So for example, Windows 10 Downloads folder is C:/Users/bANONYMOUS/DownloadsĪnd I changed it to C:/Users/bANONYMOUS/Google Drive/Downloads On my Desktop, I changed the default system libraries for those folders, to the matching folders in Google Drive. On Google Drive, I have Pictures, Music, Documents, Downloads, and Videos. Now my use for this was to NOT sync desktop files to Drive, but instead, I had Google Drive sync with the computers, for specific folders. I have a Desktop and Laptop, both HAD Google Drive Backup and Sync installed. I have a very specific use for Google Drive, I'll try to explain it first so you understand what's going on. ![]()
